After a 9 hour drive we finally arrived in L’Argentière-la-Bessée, where the last EYC of the year and my last EYC ever took place.
As in the years before it was super hot in l’Argentière, but luckily my qualification started at 6 PM, or even later due to some rain, and so the temps were much better. Anyway the routesetting was really awkward…just tiny crimps on a youth competition ?!? As 5 out of the 8 Boulders were far to easy for an EYC, It all came down to 3 Boulders. I could do one of them and fell with one hand at the top hold of one other Boulder on my last try. I was really dissapointed because I thought that slip would have made miss finals, but I got really lucky and ended up in 8th Position. I always like to start first, because you can only get a better Place, so I was pretty confident going into finals.
First boulder was a sick triple dyno, which unfortunately got cheated by most finalists as a normal dyno… The way I did it might have been slightly harder and cost me some tries. After that I fell on the top move of the next two boulders, but at least I could finish the comp with a top of the last boulder within the last 5 seconds ? This made me finish 5th place, still a good result for me.
I am definitely going to miss lot of faces from the Youth Cups, but there are still two championships left, European Youth Championship next weekend and Youth worlds in november.
